4 Veterans killed in tragedy fright train crash in Midland, Texas.

Midland, TX: On Thursday, November 15th, 2012 at approximately 4:36pm CT, Midland Police Department and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a train collision on Garfield Street in Midland, Texas.

Two parade floats were in a parade and was traveling westbound on Wall Street turned south onto Garfield Street where the parade route crossed the railroad track.

Two parade floats in the parade were carrying United States Military Veterans and their spouses.

As the 2 parade floats were crossing the railroad tracks, a Union Pacific fright train was traveling eastbound was coming down the railroad track. The first parade float fully crossed the railroad crossing but, the second parade float sadly did not make it across the railroad crossing and was struck by the Union Pacific fright train.

According to CBS affiliates KOSA Channel 7, Midland Police have confirmed the identity of the four fatality victims in Thursday’s train accident.

– 37 year old Army SGM Gary Stouffer

– 47 year old Army SGM Lawrence Boivin

– 34 year old Army SGT Joshua Michael

– 43 year old Army SGM William Lubbers

The incident is currently under investigation.

Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board will be taking over the train accident investigation for Union Pacific and will be on the ground in Midland, Texas soon.
