Needles, CA: Last Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 around 5:00pm PT, a powerful storm with damaging winds many reported to be over 80 mph rampaged Needles, California and bring a mess of destruction to this community along the Colorado River.
Work Crews for the City of Needles are seen working hard to clean up the roof of the Needles Movie Theater after damaging winds lifted the roof off of the movie theater than falling onto a dirt parking lot to a home and business in Downtown Needles, California.
ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez got to ask San Bernardino County Fire Department Captain Kelly Anderson about the latest information regarding Tuesday afternoon’s damaging winds and powerful storm.
– Did anybody gotten hurt or died that day?
“No fatalities and no injuries that I know of,” said San Bernardino County Fire Department Captain Kelly Anderson.
– What about damage cost?
“I would say the damage was in to tens of thousands,” said San Bernardino County Fire Department Captain Kelly Anderson.
– How many incidents San Bernardino County Fire Department had to respond to that day?
“That day we had over 20 in our city,” said San Bernardino County Fire Department Captain Kelly Anderson.
– Any fires or rescues that had to taken place?
“No, it was all electrical incidents and power lines down,” said San Bernardino County Fire Department Captain Kelly Anderson.
The public should always have an emergency preparedness kit ready and have a plan of action in case of a damaging storm or disaster hits the Colorado River Tri-State area.
