Downtown Needles, CA: Dusty and gusty winds made a mess of Downtown Needles, California Thursday afternoon as winds near 60 mph bringing down tree branches, blowing off roof shingles, and even knocking over newspaper stands.
The roaring and crashing sound as the dusty and gusty winds blow through Downtown Needles occurred around 3:00pm PT. Dust clouded up the sky over Downtown Needles and debris was flying right pass drivers along West Broadway near A Street.
Tree branches were brought down around the Downtown Needles area; the Palms Apartments located on the 300 block of West Broadway, behind a home along the 800 block of West Broadway, and in the front yard of a home along the 400 block of B Street near Acoma Street. Papers and debris blown along the 700 block of Third Street next to St Ann’s Catholic Church. In front of Burger Hut located on the 700 block of West Broadway, two newspaper stands were knocked over as ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez was recording the wind storm.
The dusty and gusty winds also made a mess along the Colorado River Tri-State area.
8 people suffered minor injuries from flying glass after winds blow out a large window at the Riverside Resort and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada. Power poles were blown down during the wind storm along Bullhead Parkway in Bullhead City, Arizona knocking out power to customers of Mohave Electric Cooperative. The blowing dust made driving along Mohave Valley Highway in Fort Mohave, Arizona very difficult.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, about 500 people were evacuated from Community Park in Bullhead City, Arizona when wind gusts of 60 mph or more threatened their safety.
According to the Kingman Daily Miner, the storm knocked out power in Golden Valley, Arizona and Kingman, Arizona.
