Breaking News: Downtown Needles, CA: Santa Fe Park vandalized before National Train Day event.

Downtown Needles, California: Vandals have attacked city property in front of El Garces Hotel at Santa Fe Park on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 just before the start of a community event, National Train Day, celebrating the advantages of railway travel and the history of trains in the United States of America.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez was heading to report on the event when he notice all of the mess and damaged.

Vandals knocked over a park bench and portable potty, two lamp poles, and trashed near by portable sink with paper towels and hand soap; items that were set up for the National Train Day event.

Jelly was also found squirted onto the top of the portable sink paper towel box.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary Lopez as well as bystanders contacted the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and arrived to take a report on what happened at Santa Fe Park.

Vandals also opened a bottle of jelly which may have fingerprints on them but San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department did not take the bottle of jelly with them.
