Days After Heated Moments During Needles City Council Meeting, Many Awaits Today’s Board of Hospital Trustees Meeting.

Needles, CA: Many are awaiting this Today’s Board of Hospital Trustees starting at 1:00pm PT at the Needles City Council Chambers off of J Street and Bailey Ave in Needles, California just days after some heated moments occurred during last Tuesday’s Needles City Council Meeting.

The incident occurred during a Needles City Council Meeting Agenda, Item #16, regarding the possible appointment to fill a current vacancy on the Board of Hospital Trustees.

** The following is what took place at that Tuesday’s Needles City Council Meeting: **

City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget informs those wanting to fill the current vacancy on the Board of Hospital Trustees that what may happen well on the Board of Hospital Trustees:

– City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget, “Remember, it’s not for sure that Miss Valentine is going to be able to come up with the money and take over on May 27th or where… If she does not, we (The City of Needles) still are going to be running the hospital and we must have a hospital board that knows what they’re doing and make good decides”.

After City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget was done informing those wanting to fill the current vacancy on the Board of Hospital Trustees, Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch asked a question to the City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget:

– Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch, “You made that statement twice (Comments Above) in two meetings, is there something that we (Members of the Needles City Council) might need to be aware of; if they (Needles Hospital Inc.) submitted their funding? City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget responded to Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch’s question:

– City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget, “I think, I think there are some problems I see on the agenda here talking about getting rid of the presented of the hospital board. I think these are important decides.”

After City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget responded, Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch’s repeated the question as well as gives more details to his question:

– Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch, “That’s not the question I am referring to or the comments I am referring to,” said Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch adding, “You made two times you made references to NHI (Needles Hospital Inc.) and I don’t know what is going on but you made references twice…” (Cut Off When Still Talking by Needles City Councilmembers Jim Lopez)

Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch continued his question directed to City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget:

– Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch, “There has been two comments made reference them hospital not getting their money and where still running it; and I would like to know if there is a problem that is out there that I am not aware of?”

City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget answered Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch’s question:

– City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget, “There is no problem that I am not aware of, or you aren’t aware of, or I know that you should know.”

After City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget answered Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch question, Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch responded:

City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget repeated his response to Needles Vice Mayor Pat Murch’s question:

– City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget, “I did not, I did not have any information that Miss Valentine’s NHI (Needles Hospital Inc.) is going to be passed USDA or rather it’s not going to be passed.”

The Needles City Council went on to vote on Item #16 in regards filling a current vacancy on the Board of Hospital Trustees. There were four applicants wanting to fill the current vacancy on the Board of Hospital Trustees, but the Needles City Council voted against all four of the applicants; 5 No’s to 1 Yes and 1 Abstention.

Needles City Councilmembers Terry Campbell voted Yes on 3 of the applicants and voted 1 Abstention on one applicant. The rest of the Needles City Council voted No on all four applicants which means nobody got to fill the current vacancy on the Board of Hospital Trustees.

After the Needles City Council voted not to fill the current vacancy on the Board of Hospital Trustees, City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget told all the members of the Needles City Council, “A fortunately there are no more citizens from our town who volunteer to help out at the hospital and I think you all (Members of the Needles City Council) should be chastised for thinking not even allow me (City of Needles Mayor Edward Paget) to appoint someone. I think you (Members of the Needles City Council) should be chastised to think that that hospital (Colorado River Medical Center) can run with the present board and no; you’re violating our charter.”
