Remembering Whitney Houston: Newark, NJ: The World Says Good Bye at Whitney Houston’s Funeral.

Over a thousand of close friends and family attended New Hope Baptist Church in her birthplace of Newark, New Jersey last Saturday to remember great singing icon Whitney Houston.

The invitation-only memorial service at Whitney Houston’s childhood church from Oprah Winfrey and Mariah Carey, to the Newark Mayor Cory Booker and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie came to pay their respects to Whitney Houston.

“We are here to mourn our loss, but celebrate her life,” said Newark Mayor Cory Booker.

As many of Whitney Houston’s fans as well as hundreds of journalist lined up outside the New Hope Baptist Church to show their love for Whitney Houston, many around the world tuned in on television and on the Internet to watch Whitney Houston’s funeral.

The service opened with the New Jersey Mass Choir singing and bringing the spirit of God into the church.

Singers Alicia Keys, R Kelly, and Stevie Wonder sang emotional tributes to Whitney Houston which had many people on the feet and in tears.

“She (Whitney) is an angel to us,” said singer Alicia Keys.

“Whitney, you’ll always be a ribbon in the sky,” said singer Stevie Wonder.

Music director Rickey Minor, actor Kevin Costner, producer and director Tyler Perry, and record producer Clive Davis spoke about Whitney Houston’s strengths, goals, and how her powerful voice made her an icon in music to the world.

“Whitney changed my life. God sent her,” said music director Rickey Minor.

“Whitney; you weren’t good enough, you were great,” said actor Kevin Costner.

“There was a grace that carried her down from heaven,” — “From what I understand, she wasn’t even supposed to be able to speak, let alone sing, because of an incident that happened to her as a child,” said producer and director Tyler Perry.

“Bobbi Kristina, you too, always, always be proud of your mother. She loved you so very much.” — “She defined not only true talent, but true heart and soul.” — “Everyone in heaven, including God, is waiting. And I just know you’re gonna raise the roof like no one else has ever done before,” said record producer Clive Davis.

Whitney’s bodyguard Ray Watson, sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston and New Hope Baptist Church Pastor Joe A. Carter talked about Whitney Houston’s love for her children, family, and God.

“God gave us an angel,” said Whitney Houston’s bodyguard Ray Watson.

“She was approaching her 50s and it was time for her to live for Whitney,” said sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston.

“Whitney, you are the only one that could bring all of us together. Whitney, today is your day,” said pastor Joe A. Carter.

Dallas based mega church bishop TD Jakes offered words of comfort to the Whitney Houston’s family and Detroit pastor Marvin Winans delivered the eulogy and thanking God for Whitney Houston’s life.

Gospel singer Donnie McClurkin and gospel singing duo BeBe and CeCe Winans sang to Whitney Houston and uplifted everybody’s spirit.

The service ended with Whitney Houston’s casket was walked down the church aisle to Whitney Houston’s song, “I Will Always Love You” in the background playing as many said good bye to Whitney Houston with tears rolled down their faces well knowing the Whitney Houston is now home in heaven singing to God and all the angels up there.

On Sunday, Whitney Houston’s journey “home” ended with Whitney Houston laid to rest next to her father at a private burial in New Jersey.

Singing icon Whitney Houston was found dead inside a bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Saturday, February 11th, 2012.

Whitney Houston was staying at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the past several nights and was planning to attend a party hosted by Davis at the hotel before the Grammy Awards Show being held on Sunday.

Beverly Hills Police Department released a statement saying,

“Whitney Houston was positively identified at the scene by members of her entourage, which included friends, co-workers and family. Ms. Houston’s daughter and mother were notified of her death.”

The investigation on Whitney Houston death is still ongoing but Investigators are examining the prescription drugs found inside Whitney Houston’s hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
