Los Angeles, CA: Singing icon Whitney Houston was on the mind of many who attended the 54th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, California.

 

Music artists as well as Celebrities stand united together as LL Cool J opened up the 54th Annual Grammy Awards show with a prayer for the family and friends of singer Whitney Houston.

 

After the prayer, LL Cool J said, “Whitney, We Will Always Love You”.

 

Jennifer Hudson performed a moving tribute to Whitney Houston; Jennifer Hudson held in tears as she performed Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” under a single spotlight on stage.

 

The crowd gave Jennifer Hudson a huge round of applause for her moving tribute to Whitney Houston.

 

 

48 year old Whitney Houston was found dead Saturday inside a hotel room bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

 

Beverly Hills Fire Department was already at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the party event hosted by famed music producer Clive Davis when the 911 call came in at around 3:30pm PT.

 

Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55pm PT.

 

 

Beverly Hills Police Department released a statement saying,

 

“Whitney Houston was positively identified at the scene by members of her entourage, which included friends, co-workers and family. Ms. Houston’s daughter and mother were notified of her death.”

 

 

Whitney Houston was staying at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the past several nights and was planning to attend a party hosted by Davis at the hotel before the Grammy Awards Show being held on Sunday.

 

Whitney Houston’s body was removed for her hotel room around 12am PT Sunday by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

 

 

Assistant Coroner’s Chief Ed Winter told reporters during a press conference that, “there will be no cause of death at this time because it is pending toxicology reports.”

 

Assistant Coroner’s Chief Ed Winter declined to release the coroner’s initial finding of cause of death, saying lab results were expected in six to eight weeks.

 

“I know there are reports that she maybe was drowned or did she overdose, but we won’t make a final determination until all the tests are in,” said Assistant Coroner’s Chief Ed Winter.

 

No injuries to Whitney Houston’s body and as for foul play, Assistant Coroner’s Chief Ed Winter rules out foul play.

 

 

TMZ is reporting that Whitney Houston’s family was told by the coroner’s office that Whitney Houston did not die from drowning, but from what appears to be a combination of prescription drugs, including Xanax, mixed with alcohol.

 

 

According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information; Xanax, also known as Alprazolam, is used for treating anxiety disorders and panic disorder (Sudden, unexpected attacks of extreme fear and worry about these attacks).

 

 

Whitney Houston was born on August 9th, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey.

 

Newark Mayor Cory Booker tweeted on Twitter after hearing the news of the passing of Whitney Houston, “RIP Whitney Houston, a Legend and great American artist. And always, one of Newark’s and New Jersey’s treasured daughters.”

 

Many who knew Whitney Houston came to New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey for a special prayer service Sunday morning by Reverend Joe A. Carter.
