Needles, California: Elaine Cullen from Western Regional Consulting talked to members of the Needles City Council on Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 about Needles’ Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.

The video of the PowerPoint Presentation was posted to ZachNews on YouTube.

Elaine Cullen of Western Regional Consulting presented with a PowerPoint Presentation talking about what is Needles’ Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats that is facing this small Colorado River side community and what is the plan of action on getting Needles moving forward on getting new businesses, jobs, and community events to their community.

The Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis was done during several town hall meetings held back in November 2011.

The community came out to the town hall meetings and voice their concerns about their community as well as to point out what are Needles’ Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. The public was also asked what they wish to see Needles become as well as what they want to see brought to Needles.

A big announcement came during the PowerPoint Presentation when Elaine Cullen of Western Regional Consulting announced that Starbucks is coming to visit Needles in February.

Subway is committed in coming to Needles and have already signed on the dotted lines according to Elaine Cullen. A new dollar store is planned to come into Needles; a site visit was done last Monday and are waiting for some offers on properties for the new dollar store.

Other plan of action comes in the form of volunteering. A plan to have an event that would sign up volunteers for different activities and events like clean up events is an idea that would help bring the community together as like what happened in 2010 when NBC’s School Pride show came to Needles High School to remodel the high school and thousands of people answered the call to help volunteer at that event.

Elaine Cullen also announced to the Needles City Council that the City of Needles Facebook Page has been seen by many across America and around the world.

Some of these projects and plans rest on Needles City Council approval before acting on them but many hope that the Needles City Council do the right thing and get Needles on the road to job growth and new ways of bring more tourist to enjoy what makes this town a great place to live.
