Needles, California: A community continues to mourn the lost of “3 Pete’s” at the site of the fatal vehicle crash that killed two adults and a child from the Rodriguez family on Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 along River Road near Jack Smith Memorial Park.

The fatal crash occurred at around 6:30 p.m. PT on Wednesday, and the victims have been identified as 51 year old Pete Rodriguez III, 30 year old Pete Rodriguez IV, and 10 year old Pete Rodriguez V; the community knows them as the “3 Pete’s.”

Reports that Pete Rodriguez V played baseball and Pete Rodriguez III use to worked the City of Needles in the Parks Department.

People continue to gather on Friday, April 1st, 2011 at the site of the fatal vehicle crash where a memorial grows along the north side for River Road near Shore Street.

Family, friends and the community dropped off flowers; one person dropping off flowers in a flower pot with a baseball design around it.

ZachNews has learned that a donation drive is happening for the family of Pete Rodriguez III, Pete Rodriguez IV, and Pete Rodriguez V.

Donations can be dropped off at; 1407 Front Street, Needles. CA, 92363. Check Named to Daniel Rodriguez.

Donations are also being collected at the Needles Rodeo Grounds, located at 1001 San Clemente Street in Needles, California, where the the 35th Annual Colorado River Round-Up Rodeo is happening tonight and Saturday night.

According to Sergeant Tim Smith with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, investigators are trying to determine why the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when off River Road and hit a large rock and several trees.

Vehicle tire marks can be spotted along River Road near the intersection of South Bridge Road, just before the site where the vehicle crashed off the roadway.
