Needles, California: A community are in mourning after a fatal vehicle crash along River Road near Jack Smith Memorial Park kills two adults and a child from the Rodriguez family.

ZachNews has learned that the victims in the fatal crash have been identified as 51 year old Pete Rodriguez III, 30 year old Pete Rodriguez IV, and 10 year old Pete Rodriguez V; the community knows them as the “3 Pete’s.”

The fatal crash occurred at around 6:30 p.m. PT on Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 along River Road near Shore Street just a block west of the entrance to Jack Smith Memorial Park.

Reports that the vehicle, a pickup truck, loss control and crashed into a large rock and several trees off the north side of the roadway near Verde Shores Estates.

The fatal vehicle crash is a big lost to the community as many people knew the “3 Pete’s” and the Rodriguez family who are in deep lost.

Hours after the fatal vehicle crash, friends and the community gathered on Thursday, March 31st, 2011 at the site of the fatal vehicle crash to remember and give their respects for the “3 Pete’s” as well as to drop off flowers, teddy bears and other personnel belongings remembering the “3 Pete’s.”

Friends and the community also gather at two locations in the Downtown Needles, California to remember and give their respects the “3 Pete’s.”

Over 180 people gather in front of the home of the Rodriguez family along Front Street well along an alleyway off C Street, flowers were spotted along the chain link fencing behind a tow yard where the pickup truck in the fatal vehicle crash may have been dropped off.

Patrol vehicles from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station were also spotted paroling the area around the tow yard concern of people trying to view the pickup truck.

According to Sergeant Tim Smith with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station, investigators are trying to determine why the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when off River Road and hit a large rock and several trees.

Vehicle tire marks were spotted along River Road near the intersection of South Bridge Road, just before the site where the vehicle crashed off the roadway.
