Needles, California: The Needles Planning Commission held a meeting inside the Needles City Council Chambers on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011.
During the Needles Planning Commission Meeting, the issue of medical marijuana/medical cannabis dispensaries came up on top of the Planning Commission Member’s desk.
Item #7(A): A public hearing is called to consider all evidence and testimony for or against local land use regulations related to medical marijuana/medical cannabis dispensaries co-ops, and collectives.
The public commented; most of the comments were in support saying there is a need here in Needles and one person who was against medical marijuana said it will bring crime to the town. The issue of buying medical marijuana online came up; many say that buying medical marijuana online is risky for you don’t know if it’s fake or if it’s the right kind of medical marijuana.
The motion on Item #7(A): to have city staff a draft an ordinance similar to San Bernardino County’s ordinance related to medical marijuana/medical cannabis dispensaries. To allow medical marijuana/medical cannabis dispensaries inside a state license health care facilities well banning medical marijuana/medical cannabis dispensaries in unincorporated areas of the county.
The vote by the Planning Commission Members on Item #7(A): 1st by Member Bob Rath & 2nd by Member Richard Pyle: 5 Yes & 0 No. Next stop, the City Council.
